About

The Clog Palace was the place to go in the 1980s and 1990s in the Washington, D.C. area for listening to and dancing to Appalachian old-time string band music. There was a lot of eating, drinking, and socializing, too, as I recall. It was held in a few places over the years, but is most known for its time at Captain White’s Oyster Bar on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.

This blog is where I will record my own memories of the Clog Palace.  Other people’s memories will be featured on The Clog Palace Memories Project web site, as well as photographs, sound files, and databases of the bands that played there.
